Valentine’s Day is upon us and, let’s be honest, there are a lot of things we love. Ask 20 different people what makes their hearts happy, and we’re willing to bet you’ll get 20 different answers. Everything from chai tea lattes to the perfect fall tailgate to pastel colored Stanley cups. But when we asked our Academic Coaches what they love about the work they do, we found one common theme: witnessing transformation.
There are so many aspects to the work we do both with our students and behind the scenes, but there is nothing like watching a student move from struggling through semesters to OWNING semesters! It’s likely the same reason there’s an almost universal love for binge-watching home makeover shows. We all love a good before and after! Watching students apply newly grasped executive functioning skills or champion a study habit that they’ve been struggling to prioritize truly puts a spring in our step and a flutter in our hearts!
Check out the quotes below from our coaches. We hope your heart’s warmed as much as ours were!
I love to see the students change throughout the semester as they learn to balance their daily schedule of activities (classes, social, studies, etc.). I get to see glimpses of the fabulous graduates they will be!

I love seeing a student’s reaction when they realize their hard work and commitment results in success!

I love supporting the whole person. It’s inspiring to help students pull all the pieces together in their academic, emotional, and social spaces.
Lauren Losey
I love helping students realize their full potential with their school work and life. This in turn improves their self confidence, positive attitude and work ethic. Love to watch the students come full-circle with their learning.
Sarah Adams
I love working with students to provide accountability and encouragement so they can work hard to achieve their goals!
