You sit down to take a test. Your mind goes blank. You know you studied. You should be ready for this exam. Why are you freezing up now?
Does this sound familiar? We’ve all been there. You go into an exam or a test fully prepared, but then you totally freeze.
Here are three simple test-taking tips that will help you as you conquer those upcoming exams.
Tip 1: ARRIVE EARLY and RELAX
Make sure you have given yourself enough time to get to the exam and get settled in your seat. Once you have settled in, take a minute to close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax.
Tip 2: PLAN HOW YOU WILL USE YOUR TIME
As you begin the exam, review each portion of the exam and quickly calculate how much time you should allow for each question. This will help you stay on task throughout the exam.
Tip 3: DO A MEMORY DUMP
Before you begin the exam, write down anything that you remember regarding the exam. For example: equations, important dates, and any important facts you have memorized.
